GearMaster console installation

  1. Before turning on the console, connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI output of the console and to the HDMI input of your television.
  2. Plug the power cable with the button into the console and the provided USB box. 
  3. Plug the controller's first wireless USB dongle into one of the console's USB ports so that it is recognized.
  4. Controllers number 2 and above must be plugged in from the console's main menu, and before launching a game. Connect the number of controllers corresponding to the number of players.
  5. When you remove the protective foam from the controller's joysticks, the plastic part sometimes comes slightly out of its base, which can cause a few glitches. Press down on the joystick to snap it back into place if necessary. 
  6. You can remove the protective film (brown or sometimes transparent) located under the console; it serves to protect the plastic during transport.

Controller details


Note: The joysticks are called L3 for the left joystick, and R3 for the right joystick. «L3 UP» for example, which you will see further down in the user manual, corresponds to pushing the left joystick upward. Do not press down on it.

A “bug” button? Is a character doing mini-jumps? Your car won't move?
It is Turbo mode accidentally activated: Press simultaneously CLEAR + the key that is “buggy”.



Using the console

  • Powering on Plug in the power cable and press the POWER button on the power cable to turn on the console.
  • Shutting down the console In the main system selection menu, press SELECT and select «Shut down». When the screen goes black and the indicator light on the front of the console turns red, only then turn off the console using the POWER button located on the power cable. Do not turn off the console using the button alone. This will not save your game and may damage the system..
  • HDMI input selection Turn on your TV and select the HDMI input corresponding to the console.
  • On some TVs, the console display may appear slightly cropped on the sides. To fix this, you need to set your screen resolution to “automatic”, “custom”, or something similar, depending on the brand and model of your screen.

Important note During each startup, a pre-loading of about 1 or 2 minutes is required. Please wait.

Navigation and shortcuts

  • Main menu Navigate between the different systems using the controllers.
  • Launching games Controller #1 is assigned randomly. For multiplayer games, generally only the player with Controller #1 can select the game mode. If a game gets stuck on the main menu, or your shortcuts do not work, you are holding Controller #2. We recommend plugging in the number of controllers that corresponds to the number of players.
  • Controllers If multiple dongles are connected, the controllers may be recognized even if they are turned off. To play solo, it is recommended to connect only one dongle. To play on single-player consoles, such as the Game Boy, PSP, or DS, please plug in only one controller.
    The included controllers are already pre-configured and normally do not require any additional configuration or change in connection mode.
  • Turn the controller on/off To turn on the GearPad PRO controller, hold MODE; to turn it off, hold SELECT + R3.


In-game shortcuts

  • Quit a game For all systems except the Saturn, the PSP, and the DS, quickly press START + SELECT twice. If this does not work for certain arcade games, you will need to press MODE + START.
  • Quit a PSP game Press MODE located in the center of the controller, then select «Return to menu» and «Quit», or press MODE + START simultaneously.
  • Exit a SATURN game. Press the SELECT key and select “Exit Game» or press MODE + START simultaneously. 
  • Quitting a DS game: Press the L2 button and select «Exit Game» or MODE+START.
  • Exiting some Arcade games: If pressing START + SELECT twice does not work to quit an Arcade game, press MODE + START.
  • Change the record For games like Final Fantasy VII on PS1 or Shenmue on Dreamcast, use SELECT + L3 UP to eject, then SELECT + L3 RIGHT/LEFT to select another disk, and finally SELECT + L3 UP again to insert the disk. For the Saturn, with Panzer Dragoon Saga for example, press SELECT, then select OPEN CD TRAY. Press SELECT again and select CLOSE CD TRAY, and a menu with the different games will then appear. Select the game with the corresponding CD number (e.g., Panzer Dragoon Saga CD2). On Famicom Disk System, the game may ask to insert side B of the disc («Set Side B» in English or with «B» as the first letter in Japanese). In this case, press R1 to eject the disc, L1 to select side B, and R1 again to put it back in.

Game search and favorites

  • Search function In the main menu, hold X, type the name of the game, and confirm. 
  • Favorites In the main menu, to add or remove a game from your favorites, hover over your game in the menu and hold down the «Y» button.

Other features and shortcuts

  • Instant save and load In-game, on most systems, press SELECT + R1 to save, and SELECT + L1 to load. For the PSP, use the MODE button to access the menu and select «Save State» or «Load State». The original save system or auto-save can crash certain games (like Tekken Dark Resurrection, for example). Do not use it. For the Saturn, press MODE and select «Save State» to save and «Load State» to load. For the DS, press L2 and select «Save State» to save and «Load State» to load. You can of course save with the original save system, but sometimes it does not work properly. Conversely, sometimes the save state is not available.
  • Change the backup location In-game, press SELECT + left/right arrow to change the save slot. Works on most consoles. 
  • Fast forward In-game, to activate fast forward, press SELECT + R2, and again to deactivate. Works on most consoles.
  • PSP data We recommend that you DO NOT INSTALL PSP DATA if it is not essential to run the game. You could quickly run out of space on the SD card.


Emulation peculiarities

  • NDS To make the stylus appear, press R2. The joystick simulates the stylus to interact with the touch screen. Press R2 again to tap with the stylus. By pressing R3 you can change the layout of the two screens (horizontal/vertical). By pressing L3 you can put one of the two screens in full screen. To simulate the use of the microphone, point the R3 stick straight up.
  • Atari Lynx Console By default, the screen is in landscape. Some games are played in portrait. To change the screen orientation, press SELECT.
  • Arcade consoles To use the arcade systems (MAME, CPS, FBNEO, ATOMISWAVE, NAOMI...), credits were required. Press SELECT to add them.
  • Handheld consoles (DS, PSP, GB…) it is not possible to play with multiple players on handheld consoles since back then, you needed 2 consoles for multiplayer mode.
  • Certain systems required the use of a keyboard (the Amiga, for example). You can bring up a virtual keyboard with SELECT or START + SELECT. You can also map keyboard keys to the controller.   • A game is lagging Not launching? Having trouble? There might be a solution. Contact customer service, we will be happy to help you.

Operating precautions for the GearMaster console

Please read the following precautions carefully for the installation and use of the GearMaster console. Failure to follow these instructions could damage the console or its accessories and may void the warranty.

  • Using the adapter Use exclusively the AC adapter supplied with the console to avoid any damage.
  • Modifications prohibited Do not modify console settings or access developer menus, as this may damage the system. If you encounter any issues, contact customer service and we will help you. However, you may unlock the system if you are an experienced user. The unlock code is BBBAB (to be entered quickly).
  • Reset and update: Above all, do not reset the console, as this deletes all data. Do not perform the internal update. Contact us if you have any problems.
  • Ventilation Ensure good ventilation for the console by avoiding blocking the ventilation grilles. Do not place it on a carpet or in a confined space, and make sure that no dust or foreign objects accumulate on it.
  • Disassembly Do not disassemble the console, its accessories or components, and do not attempt to repair them yourself on pain of voiding the warranty
  • Storage Do not store the console in damp places, on the floor, or in locations exposed to dirt, dust, or moisture.
  • Cables Do not step on the cables, do not pull them sharply, and do not bend them. Avoid exposing the console and its accessories to extreme heat or cold.
  • Liquids Do not spill any liquids on the console or its accessories. For cleaning, use a soft, slightly damp cloth and let it dry thoroughly before use.
  • MicroSD Card A 256 GB Micro SD card is provided and inserted into the corresponding port.

GearMaster console installation
